Convert MKV to MP4 offline on Windows

Choose a more widely playable video container without uploading your recording.

Choose the right output

MKV and MP4 are containers. Changing the extension does not convert the video inside. Ultimate Converter offers outputs after inspecting your file and the installed conversion engines.

Convert your video

Open the Windows app and choose your MKV file. Select MP4, then choose the available resolution and quality or maximum-size option. Check the selected audio and video tracks. Press Convert, then Save to a new file.

CPU or GPU?

Select a detected GPU when the MP4 settings are compatible, or use CPU. The Processing control shows the route the app will use. Hardware encoding availability depends on the device, driver, codec and settings; GPU encoding does not mean every decoding or color-processing step runs on the GPU.

Check HDR and audio

For HDR input, review the offered Keep HDR or HDR to SDR options and the playback requirements. Repair damaged audio is optional for supported SDR video and may replace up to five seconds with silence. It cannot repair every damaged file.

Keep the original

Conversion leaves your source unchanged. Re-encoding can change picture quality. Review the saved result before deleting anything yourself; the app does not replace your source.
